COVID-19: HKPR reaches 5,000 cases; 4 new cases hospitalized with less than 1,100 active – Peterborough | The Canadian News

The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit reported four new hospitalized cases of COVID-19 and 86 new cases, topping 5,000 since the pandemic was declared, according to data released Friday afternoon.

Around 1:20 p.m., the health unit dashboard included the following data:

Active Cases: 1,089, down from 1,093 reported on Thursday and 1,124 on Wednesday. Active cases include 524 in Northumberland County (-3), 469 in the town of Kawartha Lakes (-1), and 79 in Haliburton County (+2). The health unit notes that the number of reported cases of COVID-19 is “an underestimate of community spread” as people are now only being tested in high-risk settings.

New cases: 86 in the last 24 hours, which included 43 in the town of Kawartha Lakes, 41 in Northumberland County and two in Haliburton County.

Deceased: 81 since the pandemic was declared, unchanged from Thursday. The latest death was reported Wednesday in the town of Kawartha Lakes, the borough’s 61st COVID-related death. There have been 19 deaths in Northumberland County and one in Haliburton County.

Accumulated cases: 5,034 since the start of the pandemic.

Resolved cases: 3,789, an additional 124. Resolved cases represent approximately 76.5% of all cases.

Hospitalized cases: 20 people are currently in hospital with four in an intensive care unit. There have been 136 cumulative cases of hospitalization since the pandemic was declared, four more since Thursday. Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay starting at noon Friday reported 10 cases hospitalized with eight with COVID-19 as the “leading cause of admission.” Since the pandemic was declared, the health unit has reported 72 hospitalized cases in the town of Kawartha Lakes (two more), 60 in Northumberland (two more) and four in Haliburton County (no change).

The health unit only reports outbreaks in “high-risk” settings. As of Friday afternoon, there are 29 active outbreaks, unchanged from Thursday. Of the 29 outbreaks, 15 are currently in a long-term care setting or retirement residence. Two of the 29 are in correctional facilities.

  • Extendicare Cobourg in Cobourg: Declared on January 11
  • Community Life Group Campbellford House: Declared Jan. 11.
  • Fenelon Court Long-term care home in Fenelon Falls: Declared Jan. 10.
  • Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg: Declared on January 10 with outbreaks in both diagnostic imaging and inpatient rehabilitation units.
  • trinity school at Port Hope: Declared Jan. 10. According to the school, an outbreak was declared at the Bickle House residence. There is one active case among the four initially reported.
  • William Place Retirement Home in Lindsay: Declared on January 10.
  • Cobourg Community Life Group Home: Declared on January 7.
  • Caressant Care Retirement Home in Lindsay: Declared on January 6. house on Wednesday reported 19 active cases: three more since Tuesday with 11 residents (one more) and eight staff members (one more).
  • Legion Village in Cobourg: Declared on January 6
  • Victoria Manor Nursing Home in Lindsay: Declared on January 6. The health unit has reported 10 cases.
  • christian horizons Site D at Cobourg: Declared on January 5.
  • Community Living Group Home – Warkworth: Declared on January 5. As of January 7, there were seven active cases: five residents and two staff members.
  • Extendicare Kawartha Lakes: Declared on January 5.
  • Case Manor Long Term Care Home in Bobcaygeon: Declared on January 4, the house noon friday reported seven active cases: one resident and six staff members (both unchanged). There have been four cases resolved among staff.
  • East Central Correctional Center in Lindsay: Declared on January 4. province on January 12 reported 44 active cases among inmates (most recent data).
  • Long Term Care Regency at Port Hope: Declared Jan. 4
  • Kawartha Lakes Retirement Residence in Bobcaygeon: Declared on January 3, Friday at noon at home reported five active cases: two residents (no change) and three staff members. A staff case has been resolved.
  • Caressant Care Mary Street Lindsay Long Term Care – Declared Jan 2 with three positive staff cases. Thursday the home reported 45 active cases (most recent update): 23 residents (+1) and 21 staff members (-2).
  • Community Service Group House Access in Port Hope: Declared on December 31, 2021.
  • warkworth place Long term care in Warkworth – Declared December 31, 2021. Friday afternoon the home reported 14 active cases — eight residents (-5) and six staff members (no change). They are all fully vaccinated.
  • Caressant Care McLaughlin long-term care in Lindsay: Declared on December 30, 2021. The home reported Wednesday night 20 active cases: 12 residents and eight staff members. The death of a resident in the house was also reported. No new update since Wednesday.
  • christian horizons Site C, Ontario Street, in Cobourg: Declared on December 30, 2021.
  • Christian horizons maple wood (Site B) in Cobourg. Declared on December 29, 2021.
  • Esperanza street terrace long-term care in Port Hope: Declared Dec. 28, home on Friday reported 12 active cases — four residents (no change) and eight employees (no change). All were fully vaccinated.
  • Golden Plow Lodge long-term care in Cobourg: declared on December 26 initially with two employee cases. The home reported on Jan. 1 that three other staff members and one resident have also tested positive.
  • Northumberland Hills Hospital — medical/surgical unit of unit 2B in Cobourg: declared on December 26 with three cases of employees.
  • christian horizons Ontario Street (Site A) in Cobourg: Declared on December 24.
  • Warkworth Institution: Declared on December 21, the health unit initially reported 19 confirmed cases. Correctional Service of Canada reported as of January 12, there were 95 active cases among inmates (most recent data).

On Thursday, the health unit said “hundreds” of appointment slots were available this week (January 10-16) and next week (January 17-23) at its mass immunization clinics at the Community Center. Cobourg and Lindsay Exhibition.

A new clinic is also now being offered at Campbellford District High School on select dates in January and early February on Sundays (beginning January 16). Clinics are also currently offered in Colborne, Minden, Fenelon Falls and Brighton.

All vaccination clinics run by health units require appointments to be booked through the provincial reservation system.
