Less than a year after reopening, the century-old Cornish library was forced to close its doors again.
According to a press release from the City of Winnipeg, the premises were closed due to a heating, ventilation and air conditioning system outage.
The Winnipeg Library Branch will remain closed until a replacement unit is installed.
Originally, the library closed in 2018 for much-needed renovations.
In May 2021, the library reopened with new upgrades to meet modern needs, such as more space, accessible laundry rooms, a 24-hour book return, a ‘family literacy playground’ for children and refurbished computer areas.

From now on, the refurbished library is expected to open in the spring of 2022 at the earliest.
Anyone with material on hold can pick up their items at Harvey Smith Library from this coming Friday.
Anything currently booked out can be returned at any library branch.
