The Coquitlam RCMP released photos and videos on Tuesday of two suspects who helped accused killer Rabih (Robby) Alkhalil escape from North Fraser remand prison last month.

The two posed as contractors when they arrived at the Port Coquitlam provincial facility on July 21 and later helped Alkhalil escape in a white Ford Econoline pickup.
Both wore hats, face masks and high visibility vests for workers. They also left a fake ID at the jail with stock photos that could be purchased online.
Const. Deanna Law said in a press release that “police have spent many hours searching for video and countless hours reviewing all the CCTV footage that has been obtained.”
“Investigators have now established the route the getaway vehicle took from North Fraser Pretrial to the abandoned location,” he said. “The Coquitlam RCMP is working closely with the BC Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, the Vancouver Police Department, the Canada Border Services Agency and international law enforcement agencies in this active and priority search for Alkhalil. and the suspects who helped him escape.”

Anyone with information on the two suspects is asked to contact investigators at 604-945-1550.
She said the first suspect was wearing a helmet, while the second had a black baseball cap and wore glasses. Both also wore black pants, boots and gloves.
Alkhalil, 35, is charged with the January 2012 first-degree murder of gangster Sandip Duhre in the lobby of the Sheraton Wall Centre. He is also accused of conspiring with others to murder Duhre’s associate Sukh Dhak between August 6, 2011 and August 8, 2012. He has pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The trial of Alkhalil and co-defendant Larry Amero, who is only charged with conspiracy, continues in his absence. The Crown and the defense completed their closing arguments last week.

After Alkhalil fled, Judge Miriam Maisonville told a jury of six men and six women that he had disappeared.
“Jurors, by now some or all of you may have heard that Mr. Alkhalil has fled. I will instruct him later on what use, if any, he can make of that fact,” Maisonville said. “I remind you again that both defendants, including Mr. Alkhalil, who is not before you, are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt by the Crown.”
