The organization said in a press release that a member of the Jewish community saw at least four swastikas on the snow covered track Tuesday nights at Danyluk Park in Town of Mount Royal.

“It is alarming to see that the skating rink, such a basic symbol of Canadian identity and winter fun that attracts children and families, is desecrated by symbols of hatred,” said Michael Mostyn, CEO of B’nai Brith Canada. “This repulsive act of anti-Semitism must be condemned by all, and we hope that the perpetrators will be identified and held accountable.”

B’nai Brith said she reported the incident to the Montreal police’s hate crimes unit. The organization also notified Mount Royal City Mayor Peter Malouf and said he responded immediately by launching an investigation.
