The director of International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, said on Friday that she had a “very good meeting” with the president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández.
After a videoconference, Georgieva said on Twitter that the agency and Argentina teams remain “fully committed” to advance a program to refinance some $ 45 billion of debt.
The meeting was held hours after the Fernández government failed to achieve approval in Congress of its 2022 budget, a setback that Economy Minister Martín Guzmán said “affects negotiations” with the IMF.
