The Mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colauhas asked the President of the Government “please”, Pedro Sanchez, to make a investigation into the death of migrants Next to the fence of Melilla this weekend.
“That deserves an investigation, all lives matter, that has happened on the Spanish border and we need an investigation,” said the mayor at the 35th Pimec awards ceremony, held this Monday at the Camp Nou. “The images of Melilla are unbearable. Dozens of deaths, of people dying without the necessary help. That deserves an investigation,” she defended.
The president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, has joined the investigation request because, he has said, “it is not a geopolitical question but of human lives”.
In his speech, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has not made even the slightest mention of the humanitarian catastrophe in Melilla despite requests from Colau and Aragonès.
The request was made this Monday at the 35th Premis Pimec before the President of the Government Pedro Sánchez; the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès; the Minister of Transport, Raquel Sánchez; the mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau; the mayor of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat and president of the Barcelona Provincial Council, Núria Marín; the Government delegate in Catalonia, Maria Eugènia Gay; the president of Pimec, Antoni Cañete, and the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta.
The event was also attended by the Vice President of the Government, Jordi Puigneró; ministers Roger Torrent, Joan Ignasi Elena and Natàlia Garriga; former presidents José Montilla and Artur Mas; the leader of the PSC, Salvador Illa; the general secretaries of CC.OO and UGT of Catalonia, Javier Pacheco and Camil Ros; the president of the Port of Barcelona, Damià Calvet, and the State delegate at the CZFB, Pere Navarro, among others.
