Toronto – CIBC (CM) has hired former Liberal Minister Navdeep Bains as Vice Chairman, Global Network Investment Bank.

Mr. Bains stepped down as Minister of Innovation in January and did not run in the recent federal election.

He officially joined the bank on October 4.

CIBC says Mr. Bains will focus on developing and strengthening relationships with top-class clients and expanding business globally as a member of the Capital Markets team.

Mr. Bains joins former Conservative Minister Lisa Raitt, who was hired by CIBC in January 2020 as Vice President, Global Network Investment Banking. CIBC says that together with Raitt, the bank’s team of senior advisers will provide “exceptional analysis” on public and industrial policy issues.
