Several schools in the Montreal area have been the target of online threats in recent days and the Louis-Philippe-Paré High School in Châteauguay was closed due to online threats against its staff.

Châteauguay police executed a series of arrest warrants on Monday and detained five suspects.

“The SPC takes any threat made against a school very seriously,” the police force said in a statement. “That is why there will be an increase in the police presence around the Louis-Philippe-Paré school. … Constant communication has been established with the school administration to reassure students, staff and parents. “

On Monday morning, Montreal police announced that they had arrested six people aged 13 to 17 in connection with online threats against schools in their territory. Montreal police said an online activity called “Confession,” in which users make anonymous comments to fellow students at their school, is at the root of the threats.
