Charges laid after motorcyclist seriously injured in Parkland County hit-and-run

A 21-year-old Spruce Grove man is facing charges following a hit-and-run that seriously injured a motorcyclist in Parkland County.

On Monday around 6:50 am, Mounties received a report of a collision involving a motorcyclist and a truck on Highway 44 on the overpass at Highway 16. The driver of the truck fled the scene, police said.

In an update Wednesday, police said the driver turned himself into Parkland RCMP.

Cameron Leslie Jones, 21, of Spruce Grove has since been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm and failing to remain at a collision where a person was injured and required assistance.

Jones was released following a hearing and is scheduled to appear in Stony Plain provincial court on June 29.

The motorcyclist remains in hospital in serious condition.
