CFE restores its service in the Yucatan Peninsula after an accident


The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) completely reestablished the electricity service to 62% of the users in Campeche, Yucatan Y Quintana Roowhich were affected this Wednesday after a failure derived from an accident of a state worker who remains hospitalized.

According to the company, the employee provided maintenance – a task that is constantly carried out – in the main node (substation) of the peninsula, which provides service to the hotel zone of Cancun and the Riviera Maya.

“When the equipment and the transmission line are damaged, the others go out of operation for protection, so as not to cause further damage. At the moment we are already operating normally throughout the peninsula,” explained the state production company.

Previously, between 8:32 and 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday, six high-voltage lines went out of operation, affecting 1.3 million users in the states of Campeche, Quintana Roo and Yucatán, which represent 62% of the total users of that region.

In the following three hours, the emergency teams managed to restore the service to 479,788 users, which represents 36% of the total affected, the state company reported at 10:40 a.m.

By state, he detailed the effects and their restoration: in Campeche There were 20,938 users affected, whose electrical service has already been restored to normal.

Meanwhile, in Quintana Roo 619,612 affected users were recorded, it has been restored to 43 percent.

In Yucatan there were 681,950 affected users and 28% of these have been restored.
