CDMX projects investment of 80,000 million pesos to improve mobility

Due to the fact that improvements have been made and plans added to the Comprehensive Sustainable Mobility Program 2019-2024, the Mexico City It will have had a total approximate investment of 80,000 million pesos in a period of six years, reported the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

During the presentation of Comprehensive Sustainable Mobility Program 2019-2024the president of the capital announced the total amount of investment projected throughout her administration so that the city can change the dynamics of mobility.

“With an investment of 80,000 million pesos (…) we are investing in mobility in the city, by investing in mobility in the city, we invest in people, we invest in those who have the least and most importantly, we are building a city for everyone and for everyone”, he stressed.

In this sense, the owner of the Mobility secretary (Semovi) From Mexico CityAndrés Lajous Loaeza, broke down part of the investment that is being made for the different mobility items.

For example, for the Collective Transportation System (Metro) the investment for Sheinbaum Pardo’s mandate amounts to about more than 14,959 million pesos (this includes the “Metro-Energy” project, the new Line 1, the new Central Control Post, the renovation of the Line A, the rehabilitation and strengthening of the extension of the line 12).

Meanwhile, for the Metrobus are more than 792 million pesos (including the purchase of 50 new electric buses, the generation of a new Control Center and 70 fleet renewal buses); for the RTP, the investment is 830 million (here comes the next purchase of 171 buses and the current operation of 1,000 units).

For him Electric Transportation Servicethe investment exceeds 7,000 million pesos (here comes the development of the new Cablebus Line 3, the Elevated Trolleybussix new trains in the Light Rail and 100 new Trolleybuses).

“In the case of concession transport, it will be (…) an investment of more than 611.4 million pesos; an investment of 895 million pesos to renovate five of the CETRAMs and the renovation and expansion of ECOBICI23 kilometers of bike lanes and two bicycle parking lots with an investment of 556.5 million pesos,” added the official.

Sheinbaum Pardo indicated that the total amount of investment does not contemplate a greater indebtedness, precisely, the productive debt processes have already been concluded and these were oriented to improve the infrastructure of the Metro.

“There is a part that is debt, which has to do with “Energy-Metro”, that part goes to debt and there is also another part that was debt, which is from Cablebús; but it is important that you know that, in real terms, we are going to deliver a city with less debt than the one we received”, he commented.

Revealing that there has been greater commercial participation with Asia, Europe and the United States for this mobility plan, the president of the capital ruled out that there is an extra cost due to the inflationary situation and also due to the pandemic effect.

“There is a good relationship with China, that’s where the Trolleybuses come from; now, a Chinese company also won the buses and they also won a part of the renovation of Line 1 of the Metro (…) So, in reality, it has been with Europe, with Asia and also with the United States”, he stressed.

axes

The head of Semovi indicated that the capital’s mobility plan has been worked on under five axes, the first is to integrate all transport systems, second, to attend to those who need it most (which are public transport users and peripheral areas ) and third, reduce transfer times with improvements in the existing infrastructure.

The fourth axis is to strengthen non-polluting public transport (which has an implication in terms of electromobility) and fifth, to promote the use of bicycles with the expansion of the network of Ciclovías and the System of ECOBICI.

“We are working on integrating the transportation system of Mexico City, part of a diagnosis where what we found was a fragmented system where each transportation service was offered as if the other services did not exist,” said Andrés Lajous.
