Mexico City will have a new Traffic Reengineering Programwhich focuses on simplifying procedures through a new digital application, as well as the entry into force of new discounts for prompt payment of infractions.
During the presentation of this new program, the Head of Government, claudia sheinbaumexplained that this process of simplifying vehicle fines for citizens has the goal of further optimizing public resources and mitigating acts of corruption.
“It is to eradicate any corruption that still remains in the Transit police and for this, not only is this modernization, this process of using technology, but also, we are going to simplify all the procedures and reduce the fines if they are paid on time”, he said.
For this reason, as of April 4 of this year, the issuance of fines will be by paperless electronic devices, the citizen will receive a link to the fine on their device and the payment can be made on the digital platforms of the local central government.
“The modifications to the Traffic Regulations and this that we are announcing today enters on April 4 and at the same time, we also want citizens to help us”, he stressed.
Meanwhile, all violations will have a discount period for prompt payment of 90%, this will be during the first 10 days after the violation was generated. At the same time, a 50% reduction will be applied if it is paid between 11 and 30 days after the infraction is imposed.
“If a fine is 1,200 pesos for an infraction, if you pay it in the first 10 days, you will only pay 90% (…) that is, 112 pesos (…) That discourages the police or the police are asking them for some resource, because the amount of the fine is reduced in a very important way, ”he assured.
These discounts, of 90% and 50%, will apply to all fines generated by Traffic officers, except in the following cases: infractions captured through the Photocivic Program, confined lane cameras and confined lane bus cameras; as well as infractions in parking meters and environmental sanctions.
The head of the Secretary of Administration and Finance of the city, Light Elena Gonzalez, reported that the discounts for timely payment of traffic violations will be applied automatically and that the procedure is completely electronic through the site www. stands. cdmx. gob.mx.
“The procedure is completely electronic (…) If the citizen wishes, they can register to receive notifications, by message, every time they receive an infraction and then, be aware of their infractions,” he stressed.

Claudia Sheinbaum pointed out that the number of causes for sending vehicles to the corralón will also be reduced from 77 to 39 and the procedures for the recovery of vehicles by owners will be simplified.
“We are reducing the number of infractions for which the vehicle is taken to the corralón, since everything is going to be automated,” he said.
About what are the causes of corralón that will remain in force are, parking on sidewalks, cycle paths and pedestrian crossings; invade lanes confined to public transport; park in banking establishments, hospitals, in front of hydrants and entrances and exits of emergency vehicles.
Also park in double row or more, on primary roads or in exclusive spaces for people with some type of disability; failing to pass the breathalyzer; circular with a single plate; and when school transport drivers do not have a valid license according to the type of vehicle.

The secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) of the city, Omar Garcia Harfuchstated that within these improvements, a new special police force of the Undersecretary of Traffic Control was also set up, made up mostly of young people, who will be the only ones empowered to impose traffic violations through their cell phones.
“Its members will have a certification, they will use distinctive uniforms and vehicles for easy identification,” he assured.
García Harfuch pointed out that the authorized officers will use an electronic device and the mobile application “My police”, as well as wear a band on the arm with the legend “Authorized to infringe.”
At the same time, he announced the appointment of the new undersecretary of SSC Traffic ControlFrancisco Javier Moreno Montano.
