CDMX managed to produce 3 million cempasúchil plants thanks to the Altépetl program

As a result of the boost to primary activities, the Head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, announced the mayors of Xochimilco and Tláhuac managed to produce 3 million Cempasúchil plants, the sale of which will mean an economic benefit of more than 100 million pesos.

In 2018 there was a production of 664,000 plants, of which 64% were sold, while in 2019 900,000 plants were produced and sold, while in 2020 1.2 million were generated with a 100% sale.

Sheinbaum Pardo highlighted that to achieve this production the Altépetl program was implemented, which seeks to shorten the marketing chains, favor the local economy and responsible consumption.

Through this execution, the components were implemented Sowing Life and Wellbeing for the Countryside for 7.5 million pesos to 231 marigold producers.

In that vein, he reported that to support the commercialization and in tune with the festivities for the Day of the Dead, the Cempasúchil Fair 2021 in the Second Section of the Chapultepec Forest, Paseo de la Reforma, public markets, the chinampera area and shopping centers.

In addition, by carrying out the Cempasúchil Fair the producers have reported sales for 20 states of the Mexican Republic.

They prepare event

The director of management of the Chapultepec Forest, Monica Pacheco, explained that from October 30 to November 2, an event for the Day of the Dead will take place in the Bosque de Chapultepec.

“We will start this festival at night, we will repeat what was done in 2019, with great success for the citizens. So, come and live this experience, come buy marigolds and let’s take advantage of the great prices that the Conservation Soil producers give us ”, he stressed.
