Catalonia once again has more than a hundred critical patients due to covid

The incidence of coronavirus continues to grow in Catalonia, where next week the extension or not of the covid passport beyond nightlife will be decided, and it already reaches the 128 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the accumulated 14 days (up to 150 is average risk), with more than 870 new infections a day, which is leading the ucis to once again pass the hundred critical admitted (101), a figure of which it got off a little over a month ago.

According to the incidence data updated this Saturday by Salut, the sustained growth of those admitted to hospitals persists: today there are 424 people, 19 more than those notified on Friday. It is, however, a figure much lower than that of months ago, when the high vaccination did not stop the effects like now of the virus among the Catalan population.

More than 1,600 new positives

The official number of deaths from covid Since the beginning of the epidemic, it has risen to 24,079, with five reported in the last 24 hours, while the weekly mortality figure stands at 26 deaths, which represents about four a day on average.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, a total of 1,021,269 people have been diagnosed with covid-19 by all kinds of tests, 1,663 of them accounted for in the last 24 hours, while in the last week 6,148 have been diagnosed by PCR or antigen test (AT), more than double that of two weeks ago, an increase already counted by experts, such as the group of researchers from Biocomsc, from the UPC.

More indicators

Continuing with the epidemiological data released this Saturday, the regrowth risk (EPG), an index that measures the growth potential of the epidemic, rises to 187 points and the speed of spread of the virus (Rt) in Catalonia amounts to 1.50, that is, every 100 infected infect an average of 150 people.

Positivity -the percentage of CRP and TA with a positive result- continues to rise, up to 4.18%, a sustained growth for weeks, and increasingly close to 5%, which is the percentage established by the World Health Organization (WHO) to consider an epidemic under control.
