Castilla y León, the first PP-Vox government after three regional pacts

  • The extreme right will enter a regional executive for the first time after years acting as a crutch for the popular

The PP delivers to the extreme right the quota of power that it requested (the presidency of the Cortes, the vice president of the government and three ministries) so that Alfonso Fernandez Manueco continue waving the baton of the government of Castillo y León. The vox dependency for the popular ones to contain their territorial leadership, it offers a springboard for the ultras to continue growing and for their allegations to sneak in like a loudspeaker in the institutions. In full swing, the extreme right – which holds five mayors of very small municipalities – has given its votes to invest three regional presidents and five mayors of capitals orchestrated by the PP: Madrid, Oviedo, Zaragoza, Teruel and Córdoba.

Isabel Diaz Ayuso he broke the deck and led the people of Madrid to the polls after the announcement of the Murcian operation that sought to unseat the PP from the regional government. Ayuso governed the Community of Madrid since 2019 thanks to a pact with Cs and Vox, after committing to comply “in its entirety” with the demands of the ultras. In the last elections of May 4, 2021, Ayuso swept, winning in all the districts of the city and in all the municipalities except two. He just required the abstention of the 13 ultras deputiesbut they ended up voting in favor and becoming the president’s priority partner after the disappearance of Cs.

On December 22, 2021, the president approved her first budgets with the plácet of the extreme right after accepting some of its proposals such as those that attack unaccompanied foreign minors with periodic audits of the subsidies they receive or the reduction of the budget for public services or the gratuity of non-compulsory educational stages linked to the increase in public-private collaboration. Ayuso shows no qualms about allying himself with the ultras and, in fact, invited Mañueco to follow the same path: “I prefer to agree with Ortega Lara’s party than with those who kidnapped him,” he snapped.

The extreme right knocked down the first investiture session of Fernando Lopez Miras in July 2019, but ended up offering his support to the PP-Cs government after these two parties assumed part of his electoral program. Between the most controversial measureshighlights the need for parents to have the freedom to choose their children’s education and that “children are not indoctrinated beyond curricular subjects”, thus deciding their contents, in addition to the commitment to develop “programs for the prevention of any kind of domestic violence.

When the socialists and the oranges agreed to present a motion of censureLópez Miras dodged the dismissal thanks to the three votes against the Cs turncoats and the three parliamentarians expelled from Vox accused of irregularities, as well as the only deputy who maintains the acronym. López Miras awarded a representative of the extreme right, Mabel Campuzandonaming her Minister of Education with a plan willing to deploy the parental veto, to reduce public education in favor of concerted education and the school check.

After 40 years of socialist governments, the PP took control of Andalusia thanks to the external support of Vox and in an executive shared with Cs. John Manuel Moreno became president after accepting in his government plan the creation of a Family Counseling, the promotion of a “concord law” to replace the historical memory law, “compliance” with immigration legislation so that it is “orderly, legal and respectful.” Despite the pact, Vox knocked down the Andalusian budgets in this electoral year and asked that the appointment with the polls be as soon as possible. The next Andalusian elections will measure the dependence on Vox, although the PP fears that the antecedents could make the left grow and that they could add. Be that as it may, the agreement in Castilla y León opens the door to this option under the future president of the party, Alberto Nunez Feijoo.
