Carmen Climent: “I see ‘Tell Me How It Happened’ as a series that tells the story of life”

‘Tell Me How It Happened’ premieres this Thursday’s 22nd season in which the Alcántara family will dig in 1993 and 1994 after traveling to the present with the pandemic in his previous episodes. In addition to the cast led by Imanol Arias, Ana Dueto and María Galiana, Carmen Climent also returns to the series to play a María Alcántara who coincides in the daily life of the hospital where she does her internship with Jorge, her partner. YOTELE among other things, talks to the actress about the new episodes of the legendary TVE series.

It was recently 20 years since the premiere of the series on TVE. As a member of the cast, how does it feel to be part of one of the longest fictions in our country?

It’s happy. You do not believe it. You live it day by day and it becomes everyday, but then you think about it and say it’s very strong that it happened to be in a series that I’ve always watched and be part of his family.

This is your third season in the series. Looking back, what personal balance do you make from this time?

I have come a long way and learned a lot. I did work, but this is the first audiovisual work I did. It was also all very new because we shot in Madrid. I would say the first was to land and see, the second was to gain confidence and the third is fun. It’s all giving, being calm and from there I work hard.

But it turns out you’ve always been in the San Génaro area all your life. That is, many believe that you have adapted very well.

Yes, there was a lot of previous work and a lot of research and I got a lot of support from them. Personally, you end up seeing one thing from the outside, but inwardly it’s a world to get to a place where they have been for a long time. It was not easy at all. I think no one can walk into a family and be 100% from the beginning. It takes a lot of work and time yes or yes.

Did you have nerves in the beginning?

Yes, of course, but my own, not from the outside in. You enter a place that has a very high level and with actors who have a very high level career, without forgetting the 20 years they have been working on this series. I am 25 years old. 20 years ago I was 5. I do not want to think what it’s like to work there, because for me it’s almost a lifetime. So, a lot of nerves on my part, but also a lot of joy and good things. It was a world you have to live it out, but thanks to it I feel like I have grown for a moment.

This Thursday you premiere season 22, which takes place in the years 1993 and 1994. How would you define this new season in your own words?

I would say it’s a bit like going back to the roots. It’s an explosion of emotions. There is something for everyone.

In these new chapters, María is already in the medicine room and she lives with Jorge. The note also explains that there will be more third-generation prominence, but will she be even more present if it fits into the plots?

Yes, it is also a plot that I would very much like viewers to see because there is a lot of work behind it. For me, this is the best thing they have given me and could give me. I’m very grateful and I can not say much because they will not allow me, but it really has a lot of weight.

What will be the evolution of Mary in this new season compared to previous episodes?

It’s very mature, but above all there will be one thing that will give a very big twist. And there I leave it.

This season, Nacho Fresneda is also joining the cast, who will be very present at this new stage that María is opening to do the racing exercises. How was the engagement of your characters in the plot of these new chapters?

I have to tell a little bit because they will not allow me, but it’s cool. The character is a very admired professor who is going to be very tough, but who is sometimes going to be good, sometimes bad, but he will be very present.

We come from a season in which ‘Tell me how it happened’ mixed the past with the present characterized by the coronavirus pandemic. How did you see Silvia Abascal María play at that time?

Sylvia is wonderful. She’s an actress I’ve always admired. The fact that she played María for me when she was growing up was also a gift to be able to watch someone grow up. I already have amazing people around me with an amazing journey in the series, but suddenly the fact that someone is great and a good actress is the future of my character, leaves me with a few points to follow. It’s like someone with experience is helping you. I leave you the future and you build how to move on to there. Life can make a thousand turns, but I already know where it’s going, and it’s great.

You previously told me you are 25 years old, but do you have any cultural references from the 90s?

Yes, and also something happened to me that made me very excited. I like Mecano a lot because my mom loves it too. I was able to meet Ana Torroja because, while she was singing the theme tune of ‘Cuéntame how it happened’ when I joined. I was very excited because it was the music I listened to the most when I was little, because my mom always played it. Overall, I love all the music of the 80’s / 90’s.

Now that ‘Tell Me How It Happened’ has recently turned 20, what is your wish for both the series and yourself?

May it continue to grow. Keep counting. In the end, I see ‘Cuéntame how it happened’ as a series that tells the life and history of all Spaniards and of a family. It is a reflex to realize many things. I hope it still has a long way to go and that I can continue to learn a lot from all my colleagues, from the series itself and from María Alcántara.
