3-5-1, 8th in Pacific Division

Tonight, 7pm, Rogers Arena

WHY SEE

Streakers versus Slumpers. Adam Fox vs. Quinn Hughes. The Rangers have won six of their last seven games and are 5-1-0 on the road. They have also bought the demanding new coach Gerard Gallant and rank fourth with just 2.11 goals allowed per outing. The Canucks are 27th on offense, Elias Pettersson is struggling with just one goal and 24 shots and his club is yet to win at home. Fox and Hughes are intriguing and talented defenders who swing pucks sporting top-edge work and a high hockey IQ.

THREE THINGS ABOUT THE OPPOSITION

Kreider’s excess goals: Chris Kreider scored the winning goal Sunday in Seattle and his seven goals were within two of the league-leading Alex Ovechkin’s total of nine. Kreider had a career-high 28 goals in 2018-19 and this nine-game start was one short of Rich Nash’s team record, eight goals out of nine in 2014-15.

Fox on the run: Adam Fox leads all Blueliners in points since 2020-21 with 56 (7-49), nine more than Quinn Hughes who has 47 points (5-42). With nine points (2-7) from nine games, Fox equaled the franchise record set by Michael Del Zotto in 2009-10 with three goals and six assists.

Shesterkin is super: Igor Shesterkin made 31 saves in a 3-1 win at Seattle to steal another victory, his seventh start in nine games. His 1.70 goal-against average and .947 save percentage in seven starts are second only to Frederik Andersen (1.29 GAA., .956) of Carolina.
