Canirac plans to recover 2,500 jobs in Puebla

Puebla, Pue. By the end of the year season, the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (Canirac) plans to reach 2,500 direct and indirect jobs, while 160 of 270 that closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic have reopened in businesses.

Olga Méndez Juárez, local president of the organization, commented that 90% of the 14,000 jobs that were had before the pandemic have been recovered, while the rest decided to seek other forms of income because they were left without work.

The jobs that are generated will be for the areas of childcare, music, security, among others that were closed to avoid contact between customers.

The sales expectation is to grow 70%, but the camera is difficult to reach more, because families continue to take care of spending in the final stretch of the year.

The businesswoman indicated that the restaurant sector sees conditions to reach the employment goal, because now there are conditions to operate, unlike how they had been operating at 40 percent.

Méndez Juárez stressed that the opening of six to eight restaurants is expected in the area of the limits of Puebla with the municipality of San Andrés Cholula, where they had been programmed for a long time, but they were postponed.

In the case of the rest of the unopened businesses, they are in university corridors and they will no longer be able to resume operations due to the lack of income and the complicated situation they had during the 19 months since the pandemic, for which they even handed over the premises.

“Universities are going to return to face-to-face classes until next year, so on those dates those who had a business must assess whether they return to activity or go to other areas with greater mobility,” he deepened.

He estimated that the restaurant activity will recover from March, since it is combined with the Easter holidays, because before it will not be possible due to the January cost.
