Canirac expects to recover 1,500 jobs at the end of the year in Puebla

Puebla, Pue. After the total reopening of businesses, the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (Canirac) expects to have recovered around 1,500 jobs by the end of the year, said the president of the organization, Olga Méndez Juárez.

He explained that in Puebla due to the Covid-19 pandemic, 270 businesses closed, of which 160 reopened for two weeks.

However, the other 110 that are mostly in university corridors will not be able to resume operations due to the lack of income and the complicated situation they had during the 19 months that go from the pandemic, for which they even handed over the premises.

He indicated that they plan to open between six and eight restaurants in the coming months in the southern area of Angelópolis, however, the investment amount is not available.

“We have recovered 12,500 jobs and there is confidence to achieve the rest, but those who did not return, determined to seek other forms of income,” said the businesswoman.

Méndez Juárez said that the jobs that are recovered will be for the areas of childcare, music, security, among others.

He mentioned that in the last two weeks the influx of diners is notable, despite the fact that they had negative expectations, which have been changing.

The president considered that a promotion of Puebla gastronomy in the interior of the Republic does not hurt, since, although it is known, there are people who do not know that there are seasonal dishes.

He indicated that the gastronomic corridors are doing promotional campaigns for their businesses, “but it always helps that the authorities participate more when it comes to reactivating the economy.”
