Patricia MacDonald’s seven-year-old daughter Julia wanted to help in some way so the Canard Drive family organized “Candles for Ukraine” and sold not only candles but pottery and keychains will all proceeds going to the Red Cross.

“So many people showed up,” MacDonald said. “I was humbled by the number of people who showed up, who shared stories, who laughed and cried and who contributed to the cause we all wished did not exist at all.”

The family had hoped to raise $2,000 but more than doubled that goal.

“It is powerful to see the potential of people to support the people of Ukraine,” MacDonald said.
