Border agents in Detroit reportedly observed a person riding an inbound freight train from Windsor into Detroit on Sunday. After contacting Canadian Pacific Railway and requesting the train be stopped, agents arrested a 33-year-old individual for alleged illegal entry into the United States.

“It is extremely dangerous to enter the United States illegally, particularly through the train tunnel,” said Chief Patrol Agent Robert Danley. “Our outstanding relationships with our foreign law enforcement and CP partners were key in bringing this situation to a safe and effective law enforcement resolution.”

Border agents determined the individual had an active bench warrant stemming from London, Ont., for possession of a dangerous weapon. The individual was reportedly processed for expedited removal back to Canada and turned over to the Canada Border Services Agency.
