Canada extends restrictions on flights from India

The Canadian government announced Tuesday evening that it is extending its restrictions on flights from India for a short time.

The reason for this short delay is that Transport Canada is preparing for the return of direct flights, but with strict restrictions.

Starting September 27, travelers authorized to enter Canada will be able to take direct flights from India to Canada, with the following additional measures:

-Travelers must be able to show proof of a negative test result at Delhi Airport. The test must be completed within 18 hours of the scheduled departure of the direct flight to Canada.

-Before boarding, air operators will need to verify travelers’ test results. They will also ensure that passengers on the plane are fully immunized and have uploaded their information to the ArriveCAN app.

To test the measures, three direct flights from India will arrive in Canada on September 22, 2021, and all passengers on those flights will be tested for COVID-19 upon arrival.

Border measures and public health measures remain subject to change as the epidemiological situation evolves.
