Can-Am Police-Fire golf tourney nets $200K for Games

After the final of four fundraising golf tournaments, organizers on Friday handed a $200,000 check to the hosts of the upcoming Can-Am Police-Fire Games.

The actual golf competitions as part of the Games get underway from July 26 to 29.

Hundreds of first responders will be attending the local multi-sport event held over six days from July 25 to 31. Along with traditional sports like softball, swimming and track and field, there will be SWAT competitions and the FireFit competition at the Games, held every two years.

In addition to participant-specific sports, area residents will also have the opportunity to compete with the professionals in several events, including a 5K race on July 27 at 7 pm and 10K race on July 28 at 7 pm There’s also a 21K half-marathon road race on July 30 starting at 7 am and a cross-country 5K on July 27 at 8 am and 10K on July 28 at 8 am

“We think this opportunity to run with, and in support of, our first responders will be a special memory for a lot of people,” Games general manager Jan Wilson said Friday, adding “other event opportunities” will be announced soon.

Registration for the 2022 Can-Am Police-Fire Games remains open at windsor2022.ca.
