Camarasa Fruits: buy and eat luxury


After taking a reconnaissance tour of the new one, spectacular and luxurious Camarasa Fruits recently opened in Plaça de Francesc Macià with DiagonalThe lady exclaims, “Looks like Harrods!” She releases it convinced, as if she had visited the exclusive London department stores more times than the Sant Antoni market -which it seems, by the way-. She is not without reason because even Marc Taribó, owner of the business, admits to having been inspired by the aesthetics and concept of the British firm.

The result is an establishment where buy ‘gourmet’ products and prepared dishes, and lunch or dinner in an atmosphere of ‘retro’ air that his grandparents would not have dreamed of when they opened a humble grocer in Plaça de Adrià at the end of the 50s.

From fruit bar by day to cocktail bar by night

New Camarasa Fruitswhich is added to the main store and to other spaces such as those on Amigó, Torras i Pujalt, L’Illa Diagonal and El Corte Inglés streets (they also have a workshop in Sarrià), impresses the fruit and vegetable bar at the entrance, which at night becomes a cocktail bar. Beside, the ‘rotisserie‘ in which you can take, for example, a chicken roasted in a wood oven.

A few steps down there is another bar where you can eat dishes that in many cases are made with the products they sell and always respond to a simple market cuisine but tasty (salads, Maresme peas with cured egg yolk, grilled rice, ‘steak tartare’, grilled mussels, cannelloni, baby octopus with onions…). And downstairs frozen ‘top’, very ‘top’ sausages and a selection of even more ‘top’ cheeses that refine in their cellar.

With so much on offer, it’s not uncommon for them to open every day from 8:30 a.m. to 00:30 a.m., except Sundays, which close at 4:00 p.m..
