A trailer for the new Call Of Duty reveals its release date, but the story remains a mystery, despite the presence of Task Force 141.

Low-key surprise announcements are becoming more and more common in the gaming industry right now, with Activision suddenly dropping the first trailer for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and announcing its October 28 release date.

The trailer does not show gameplay footage or say anything about the game. It only shows some character illustrations and the box cover, while gravelly-voiced voice artists speak in vague military jargon.

Rumor has it, however, that while Modern Warfare 2 is ostensibly a reboot of the 2009 title of the same name, its story no longer involves a Russian invasion of the US. South American drug cartels.

The idea that the new Modern Warfare 2 is influenced by the 1994 movie Clear and Present Danger has been around for a long time, but there’s never been any proof to back it up, other than Call Of Duty information always leaking before it. weather.

‘Task Force 141 makes its massive return with a global squad of iconic veterans, these Operators include Captain John Price, Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley, John ‘Soap’ MacTavish, Kyle ‘Gaz’ Garrick’ and introducing Special Forces Colonel Mexicanas Alejandro Vargas,’ read the YouTube description of the video below.

That doesn’t rule out cartel rumors, but the fact that Task Force 141 is at the center of the story is also how it was in the original Modern Warfare 2, so perhaps the plots are more similar than previously assumed.

Other recent leaks suggest that Modern Warfare 2 will have a new mode called DMZ, similar to Escape From Tarkov. Again, that’s unconfirmed, but hopefully it will fare better than Battlefield’s attempt at a similar idea.

The October 28 release date is a bit earlier than usual, which is usually an indication that the game is trying to stray from something else. But at the moment, Modern Warfare 2 is just about the only major release confirmed so far for the 2022 holiday rush.

Gotham Knights is due out a few days early, on October 25, so Activision clearly isn’t worried about that, so it’s a bit of a curious choice that may imply that Activision secretly knows when other big-name games are coming out this year.

Activision hasn’t confirmed anything about the formats either, and while Modern Warfare 2 is almost certainly cross-gen, it leaves open the possibility that it will only appear on current-gen consoles and PCs.
