The agency offers short-term shelter for children whose families need emergency support.

“Our crisis daycare is where children can come and stay for up to 72 hours, no questions asked, as long as their parents are dealing with a crisis or situation where they just need support,” said Sarah Hughes of Children’s Cottage.

The donation of the daycare is something the agency can really use right now, as the number of families seeking shelter increases during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are turning away 1,900 children a year,” Hughes said.

“It keeps children in a stressful situation, which is not good for anyone. It is not good for parents, it is not good for families, it is not good for the community ”.

Wee Wild Ones Daycare raised most of its $ 50,000 donation by hosting a “Monster March” Family Fundraising Walk on October 30, 2021.

“We have the little ones to inspire us,” said Wee Wild Ones owner Chloe Dusser. “It is so close to home for us and since Children’s Cottage takes care of the children and us as well, it felt like a suitable cause to support.”

The Children’s Cottage staff appreciates the support of the nursery families.

“It is a moving and amazing thing to have children raising money for children,” Hughes said.
