Brent Loucks calling it a career on the CKOM morning show – Saskatoon | The Canadian News

Changes are hitting the Saskatoon airwaves.

Brent Loucks, the long-time host of CKOM’s morning show, has decided it’s time to sleep in.

Loucks announced to listeners on his show Friday that he is leaving the morning show. His last day is February 4.

He started as a morning news anchor on the station in 1982 and went on to host the morning show in 1984 with long-time co-anchor Penney Murphy.

Murphy, who is married to Loucks, left the show in 2003 to pursue counseling.

However, Loucks does not completely retire from radio.

It will host shows on the weekends, provide holiday coverage and broadcast special events.

Taking over from Loucks is Rock 102 host Shack.

Shack has been a staple on Saskatchewan radio for 30 years and helped launch Rock 102 in November 2001 as host of the morning show.

Shack is also a founding board member of Care & Share Saskatoon, which raises funds for inner-city school children.

He will still be heard on weekends on Rock 102 with his show, Rock music runs through my veins.

Shack kicks off with the CKOM morning show on February 7.
