Boots for men: longer and more expensive

Balenciaga currently sells a boot known as bulldozer. Rarely has a product name seemed so apt. This huge boot is so voluminous like a John Deere bulldozer on creatine. Its fang-sounding treads lift the wearer inches off the ground. The boot’s tall leather shank also pushes the limits of reason, going past the calf entirely. Even the price of the Bulldozer is $1,190, which induces a big drink.

Are boots they are not the only ‘monster’ stomping on the footwear market. Bottega Veneta sells the $1,350 Tire Boot, another chelsea boot which consumes calves and has a very large sole. Moncler has released a series of menacing rubber boots that give the wearer an extra inch or two.

Even Cat Footwearthe brand owned by the heavy-duty construction equipment company Caterpillar, sells fashion-forward footwear, including stunning and shiny boots $140 that, according to the brand’s website, provide a “futuristic, on-trend finish while protecting you from the elements.”

Men’s fashion is at a great moment, particularly in the footwear department. Balenciaga helped start the wave in 2017 when he launched Triple S, a chunky sneaker on a triple sole. That shoe, and similar high-tops and supercharged sneakers from Gucci to Converse, whetted the appetite of consumers around the world.

“People who buy status shoes want to be recognizable,” said Bruce Pask, director of menswear at Neiman Marcus.

“We’ve been moving in that direction of having more flashy footwear.” That’s why now the designs are longer and even expensive to produce.
