BMV’s International Quotation System achieves a record of 3,000 listed foreign securities

The International Quotation System (SIC), a platform to buy stocks and Exchange Traded Fund (ETFs) listed on international markets, achieved a record (reaching 3,000 listed securities.

Through a statement, Grupo Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (BMW) detailed that of the total listed securities, 55% correspond to shares and the remaining 45% to Exchange Traded Funds.

While 57% correspond to issuers based in North America, 37% to European issuers, while the rest belong to Asia, South America, Africa and Oceania.

Currently the SIC has 73,000 million dollars invested in stocks and ETFs from anywhere in the world.

“The SIC offers an attractive offer to the demand of investors for having global exposure,” commented Marcos Martínez Gavica, president of the board of directors of Grupo Bolsa Mexicana de Valores, through the statement.

He added that “the development of this offer has caused the market and the final investor to win, so we will always promote the healthy development of the market and that there are more and more investment options.”

Grupo BMV abounded that in 2021 341 foreign securities were listed, of which 226 corresponded to shares and 115 to ETFs.

The stocks with the largest operations throughout 2021 were Apple, United States Steel, Tesla, Moderna and Occidental Petroleum. And the most popular ETFs were those linked to the S & P500 and US Treasuries.

“From 2016 to date, the listed assets almost tripled and the transaction amount went from 30% to 53% of the volume traded on the BMV. Since that date, the amount of assets under custody has grown by more than 240%. ”, Highlighted the stock market center.

One of the advantages of this platform, developed by the BMV that allows local investors to have access to global securities, is the operation in pesos and the same corporate and equity rights as local investors.
