BMV and Biva close with losses; Cemex’s fall stands out

The Mexican stock exchange (BMW) ended trading Tuesday with a moderate loss. The local stock market fell on a day in which it was announced that inflation in Mexico rose more than expected. Now investors are waiting to know the inflation data for the United States.

The benchmark index S&P/BMV IPC, made up of the shares of the 35 issuers with the highest value by capitalization and liquidity in Mexico, yielded -0.26% and closed at 52,114.12 units. The index FTSE BIVA, main of the Institutional Stock Exchange (Biva), closed the day with a fall of -0.17% at 1,075.11 points.

Inside the benchmark index, most of the components closed the session with losses for 19 of the issuers and gains for 16. The worst values ​​inside were Cemex, with -4.42%; Alsea, with -2.48 percent. They pressed the giants Walmex and Grupo Televisa, with -1.74% and -1.43 percent.
