BMV and Biva advance after seven days with losses


The Mexican stock exchange (BMV) ended the negotiations this Wednesday with a moderate gain. The local stock market put an end to a streak of seven consecutive days with losses, at the end of a short week for Easter and waiting for the reporting season to begin.

The index reference S&P/BMV IPCmade up of the shares of the 35 issuers with the highest value by capitalization and the most traded in the country, gained 0.49% to 54,172.62 points, contrary to their peers in wall street. The FTSE BIVAthe index of the Institutional Stock Market (Biva), gained 0.58% at a level of 1,120.03 units.

Within the benchmark index, most components ended the day with gains, with 24 stocks in green and 11 in red. The best performances of this session were the shares of Cemex, with 4.99%; the Port of Liverpool, with 3.32%, and the shares of the Alfa conglomerate, with 3.07 percent.
