“You can’t imagine your child disappearing in a river like that and not being found for a week. It’s a martyr every night,” says Stéphanie Durette.

His daughter, Amy Gagné, slipped in the Rivière du Nord, in Sainte-Adèle, on May 12.

His body was finally found Sunday morning in Piedmont, a few kilometers from the scene of the accident.

Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec were able to locate the body after a call from a resident of the area.

The search was suspended last Friday, eight days after the disappearance of the 16-year-old girl.

The fourth-grade student had lost her footing while she was under the Rolland Street bridge, near her school.

“It was my daughter’s first time there. But it really wasn’t the first to go. She just followed the others, ”says her mother.

” [Amy] loved the water. When we went near the lakes, she always wanted to hit the water first,” says Ms.me Hardness

She therefore wants Quebecers to be more forward-looking and to be careful near waterways as summer approaches.

“A simple accident can happen in 30 seconds,” she laments.
