Barcelona City Council yesterday removed fences of spaces in works of the Portal del Àngel to avoid the traffic jams that the shopping street received in a few days when consumption is especially high on Black Friday. The consistory placed plates in the affected areas that previously delimited the fences. And thus the agglomeration diminished.
The people of Barcelona, and also tourists, although approximately a third of the foreigners who did so two years ago, responded this weekend in large numbers to the commercial call for Black Friday discounts. Some of the buyers encountered pedestrian traffic problems that they did not expect.

Unexpected fences
It happened on Saturday in the Portal de l’Àngel because the street is partially under construction, which forced the closure of some spaces, which were surrounded by fences. With this, the walkers ended up like anchovies in parts of the pedestrianized street, which unexpectedly narrowed. It was difficult for customers and sellers to understand that the local heart of shopping, the Portal de l’Àngel, was in this situation on dates like Black Friday. In fact, some pedestrians ended up choosing to remove the fences and pass through the area under construction, with the consequent risk in some cases. The sector regretted weeks ago that the works, related to the water channeling, coincided with dates of maximum commercial activity. The consistory explained that the work will end in a few days.
