Salmon Arm Vietnamese restaurant, Hanoi 36, is hosting a Sunday dinner for displaced families and locals affected by the recent floods in the province.
The owners, Michael and his wife Jenny Yu, have been hard at work preparing meals for displaced families and offering them a place that feels like home.

“Tonight is about people and community. We want you to know that regardless of what you are going through right now, all we want to do is cook you a good meal. They can sit back, relax, enjoy music, and feel right at home. Even if they are far from home, this is the least we can do for them, ”says Michael Yu.
The restaurant serving a traditional grilled pork dish, a Hanoi 36 specialty, and something Michael feels, will showcase traditional Vietnamese cuisine.
“Our local customers love our BBQ pork and we thought it would be a great way to showcase Northern Vietnamese cuisine.”
Currently, the couple have reached out to local hotels and shelters to spread the word. With around 30 take-out orders and food for local shelters and hospitals, Michael says it’s already a success.

“So far, with the comments, we hope to have quite a few people in the dining room at this point.”
The couple also hope that the kitchen can offer some happiness to people who have been struggling due to the recent floods.
“Color red like Christmas: we hope the plate can bring some color to people’s lives, especially at this time.”
The dinner is open to displaced families or locals affected by the recent floods.
