A BC cat has likely traveled a few of its lives on a journey that spanned 100 kilometers and took a couple of months.
Miri, a three-and-a-half-year-old cat, traveled from her family’s home in Victoria to Nanaimo, where, with a bit of luck, the help of a stranger and a microchip, she returned to his loving arms.
The Humane Society said in a story posted on its website that the cat disappeared two months before her owners received a call that she had been found, but they had not given up hope entirely.

“After we didn’t hear from each other for a couple of months, I remember thinking about saving her food, but I thought no, not yet, and then I got a phone call from the Nanaimo BC SPCA,” Megan, Miri’s human partner. she said.
That’s when they learned that someone found Miri with the collar hooked around her head and front leg, causing an embedded collar wound.
After her injury was treated, she was sent to the Nanaimo BC SPCA, where she was examined for a microchip and Megan received an unexpected call. She took a day off work and she and her son Dean went looking for Miri.

“We were a bit shocked when we first saw her because she was so skinny. As soon as she saw us, she came over,” Megan said.
Miri went home and it was two months before she was willing to leave the house and there were other changes to begin with.
“It’s definitely a little bit spicier than it used to be,” Megan said. “She always loved to play fetch, but she would never use her claws or teeth, she would just grab with her soft paws.
“Now he hits a little harder and touches you with his teeth. Now it also purrs more often and louder.”
