A Barrington, NS man died after being struck by someone driving a pickup truck while crossing a highway.

In a statement, the Nova Scotia Mounted Police said officers responded to a collision on Highway 3 in Barrington Passage on Friday around 5:50 p.m.

“Police and emergency personnel attended the scene and found that a 41-year-old Barrington man had been hit by a pickup while crossing the road,” he said. “He was declared deceased at the scene.”

The 34-year-old truck driver and two underage occupants were not injured.

Police say a collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing. RCMP spokesman Andrew Joyce said it is too early to say whether charges will be filed.

The man who died is the third Nova Scotia pedestrian to be killed in a collision in less than two weeks.

On November 24, 27-year-old Suete Chan was hit and killed by someone driving a car on Pleasant Street in Dartmouth. The driver received a summary violation ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

And on November 26, a 67-year-old man was beaten and killed in Spryfield. Halifax Regional Police said no charges are anticipated in that collision.
