Among the many amazing things revealed in Peter Jackson’s fascinating documentary series The Beatles: Get back ‘, one of the most striking is the almost suicidal disposition with which the Liverpool group, by then already a venerable pop institution, agrees to work under pressure conditions that would have been unbearable for any other band. In short, they give themselves three weeks to compose and learn 14 new songs and to prepare their first live performance in more than two years, and they agree to do all of that for the cameras. The best of us has always emerged when we have seen ourselves with our backs against the wallsays Paul McCartney at one point in the shoot.
