The president of that group, Juan Pérez Martínez, considered it necessary to raise the price that they have maintained in the last four years despite the fact that the activity has become more expensive for them.
He stated that they had not wanted to touch the subject fully between the bakers, since there is still the season for the sale of roscas de Reyes, which will continue until the middle of this month.
He warned that in case of not making an adjustment to the bread cost There is a risk that not only some of its partners, which are 50 businesses with branches in which a total of 300 people are employed, but other small establishments will go bankrupt.
He recalled that they have maintained prices, however, the increases in raw materials are on the rise, since at the beginning of 2021 the bulk of flour was at 250 pesos and at the end of that year it was offered at 300 pesos.
While the wholesale price of the egg It was 34 pesos last year, currently it costs 38 pesos, in addition the value of sugar has been unstable, the package cost 395 pesos and at this time it reaches 480 pesos.
Pérez Martínez mentioned that the rise in fuels “does not give truce in this federal administration,” which is why suppliers do not maintain their costs of raw materials and they continue to increase.
He mentioned that in order not to affect the economy of Puebla families, the ideal would be a 50 cents increase on sweet bread that costs 6.00 pesos and the bolillo that is offered at 2.00 pesos.
The representative of the bakers explained that efforts were made to keep prices unchanged for as long as possible, but now it is necessary to make an adjustment to the needs facing the industry.
