At least one person is dead in a multi-vehicle fatal collision near Slave Lake.

Slave Lake RCMP are on the scene of a “serious” collision on Highway 44 near Township 684 Wednesday evening. Mounties said three vehicles were involved with at least one person dead.

Traffic is currently being blocked by RCMP in both north and south-bound lanes on Highway 44 and it is expected to be blocked for several hours while officers investigate the crash.

RCMP are not releasing details of the vehicles involved until next of kin are notified.

Slave Lake is about 255 kilometers north of Edmonton.
