London police say the victim of a serious assault near Western University died from his injuries, making one assault case the city’s second homicide investigation in as many days.

According to police, officers were called to a raid near Western Road and Sarnia Road shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday.

Officers found a man with serious injuries. He was taken to hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Police identified the victim as Gabriel Neil, 18, of Simcoe.

Aliyan Ahmen, 21, from London, faces a charge of involuntary manslaughter.

Meanwhile, the police are also investigating another homicide that occurred on Friday night.

In that case, police describe the fatal shooting that resulted in the death of 30-year-old Lynda Cruz Marques as a “targeted attack.”
