Goodbye rotisserie, hello spicy chicken!
US-based Asian-themed casual restaurant chain P. F. Chang is opening its first Alberta location in southwest Edmonton.
The restaurant will occupy a separate building in the windermere streams shopping complex that used to be a Swiss Chalet restaurant.
“Scheduled to open in early 2022, the innovative restaurant will bring PF Chang’s signature menu, a memorable setting, including an enclosed patio area, and iconic murals and statues to residents of Edmonton and beyond.” said a press release.

While the restaurant’s roots are in Chinese cuisine, the company says its menu spans across Asia, with dishes from Japan, Korea, Thailand and more.
Some made-from-scratch favorites include Chang’s spicy chicken, Mongolian beef, Chang’s lettuce wraps and sushi, as well as cocktails and desserts, the company said.
The 6,000-square-foot restaurant will be located at 6303 Currents Dr. NW
Bringing the restaurant to Edmonton is local franchise group Fusion 8 and Harvard Developments — the developer of much of the retail space in the Windermere and Ambleside areas of southwest Edmonton, including Windermere Streams, the adjacent Windermere Junction, and nearby shops on Windermere South.
“We are very pleased to welcome the world-renowned PF Chang’s to Currents of Windermere,” said Tony Prsa, vice president of Alberta for Harvard Developments.
“We are delighted that they have chosen our development as their first location in Alberta, and we know that this will truly be a one-of-a-kind dining experience that will draw visitors not only from our city but from across our province.”

It is one of several American restaurants that will be expanding in the area.
Last year it was announced California Pizza Cuisine — or CPK, as it is known to fans and employees alike — was expanding into Canada and its first location would be in the Windermere area of Edmonton.
That restaurant will be located in the same part of the shopping complex as PF Chang’s.

construction in the CPK ownership began in October, and as of January is still ongoing.
Bringing CPK to Alberta is restaurateur Samira Shariff, who at one point owned four Boston Pizza locations in the Edmonton area, and her son Naheed Shariff, a businessman who owns half a dozen Browns Socialhouse locations around the city and in St. Albert.
“In anticipation of opening next year, we are very excited to take the first step in bringing to life the first California Pizza Kitchen franchise in Canada,” said Naheed Shariff in October.
He added that they anticipate the restaurant will create around 100 jobs in the food and beverage industry.
