Artisans and directors earn about 20% less than their male counterparts

While an artisan receives an average of 44 pesos per hour worked, his wife receives just 35, a wage gap of 20%, according to figures from the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOE) of the Inegi.

The same situation is faced by women professionals, technicians, civil servants or directors, education workers or merchants; they earn less income despite having the same positions as their male counterparts.

The area where the salary gap is less pronounced is that of clerks with a level of 4 percent.
