a cyclist has passed away this Monday afternoon after have an accident with a van at kilometer point 1,141 of the N-340 in Mont-roig del Camp (Baix Camp, Tarragona) and the vehicle driver has been detained as alleged perpetrator of a crime of reckless manslaughter.

As reported by the Catalan Traffic Service, the accident occurred shortly before a quarter to six on Monday when, for reasons under investigation, a van struck the cyclist, who died as a result of the collision.

As later reported by the Mossos d’Esquadra, the driver of the van, a 52-year-old man, a Spanish national and a resident of Mont-roig del Camp, has been arrested as alleged perpetrator of reckless homicide and a crime against traffic safety.

According to the Mossos, the van has run over a cyclist 74 years old and German nationality and has caused his death.

The driver of the van has been tested for breathalyzer and has resulted in a criminal rate of 0.88 mg / l, for which he has been detained and is handed over to the Reus guard duty court.
