AMLO proposes allocating official advertising money in depth so that journalists have access to health and pension

President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador announced on Tuesday that his government would form a support fund for journalists with low salary and without social security, at the proposal of the journalist Rubén Villalpando.

During the morning conference at the National Palace, on Tuesday morning, he commented that on a work tour of Chihuahua the journalist suggested allocating a percentage of the government advertising spending and create a fund so that journalists have the guaranteed right to health and a pension.

“And maybe we are going to do it. A percentage of government advertising spending will be dedicated to that. And it is an idea of his, but he has other things. So, the owners of the media could help us with that, to contribute something for the journalists who earn very little and who do not have social Security“, said AMLO.

Possibly, he added, he would even ask the journalists who earn a lot of money for attacking him, to also contribute to the aforementioned fund.

“If sometimes I have even thought, how many of the macho journalists live from attacking me? Or how much do they receive for attacking me? Imagine if I asked them to give a percentage to help journalists who earn little, how much would they collect?” , he expressed when he laughed.

López Obrador assured that the issue will be reviewed.
