President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the prime minister of Canada, Justin trudeau, agreed to promote the competitiveness of North America, in a bilateral meeting prior to the summit of leaders of the region to be held on Thursday in Washington, the Mexican Foreign Ministry reported.
In the framework of the T-MEC, Mexico and Canada seek to advance towards a more inclusive economic integration, in which youth, women and members of indigenous communities benefit from greater commercial cooperation.
The outstanding agreements of the meeting are:
- Reconciliation with indigenous peoples will be sought and indigenous communities will be placed at the center of public policies.
- Fight inequality through measures for the fair redistribution of wealth.
- Promote the competitiveness of the region.
