Alsea revenues benefit from greater mobility


Greater mobility and more consumption underpinned the net sales of the restaurant operator, Alsea, since in the first quarter of 2022 they increased 49.1%, compared to the same period of the previous year to reach 15,228 million pesos.

The issuer, whose shares are listed on the main index of the Mexican Stock Exchange, showed a growth in its home delivery segment of 13.1%, compared to the same quarter of the previous year and is equivalent to an amount greater than 3,000 million pesos.

The company’s revenues in South America registered a growth of 66.4% in the same-store sales segment, while in Mexico they increased 44.4% and in the European market they obtained an expansion of 41.6 percent.

In its quarterly report, Alsea indicated that casual food brands showed a solid recovery, with a growth of 67.8% compared to the first quarter of 2021 and that Starbucks continues to be one of its brands that has managed to adapt better than expected, since grew 47.5% in same store sales.

Its operating flow (EBITDA) had a rebound of 69.1%, as it reached 3,458 million pesos in the first three months of the year, when in the same period of 2021 it had totaled 2,044 million pesos. The firm indicated that all the markets in which it maintains operations obtained a positive figure this period.

Its net profit managed to advance to 511 million pesos, when in the same period of the previous year it registered a loss equivalent to 469 million pesos, with which it added 980 million pesos. His main drive was his business strategy, as well as product innovation, implementation of digital applications and cost control.

“In the brands where we have observed a significant increase in the cost of some supplies, we have implemented pricing strategies responsibly, trying to avoid a significant impact on demand,” Alsea’s report reads.

At the close of the Mexican stock market this Wednesday, the company’s shares ended the day trading at 44.88 pesos each, which represents a growth of 2.23% and its capitalization value amounts to 37.635 million pesos.
