All Women Entrepreneurship Circuit and Global Galleria partner with OneRoof Kingston to deliver multicultural workshops.

All Women Entrepreneurship Circuit (AWEC) has signed an advocacy partnership with OneRoof Kingston Youth Services Hub and is hosting multicultural workshops in Kingston. Through the sales of its Global Galleria online marketplace platform, proceeds from the workshops will go to the OneRoof Kingston Youth Service Center to support the organization’s initiatives, particularly the Young Women’s Empowerment Group.

This series of workshops begins from the last week of October. They will run until the end of November and will range from workshops on arts, crafts, gastronomy, music, etc., facilitated by Global Galleria’s group of internal trainers and associates. These workshops are open to hobbyists, enthusiasts, creatives, and students of all ages.

The workshops include; Native art acrylic painting with trainer Dakota oliver on October 30, Indigenous Culinary Workshop with Lisa cadueand multicultural Christmas cuisine with Juliana Antunes. The fee to participate in the workshops is between $ 20 and $ 45, and the price includes all the necessary materials to participate, such as art supplies and ingredients for cooking. All workshops will take place at the OneRoof – Youth Hub located at 620 Princess St. in Kingston.

Levicel Eleazar Caland is Co-Founder of Global Galleria and Director of Community and Stakeholder Engagement at AWEC. She explains how the organization collaborates with multi-sector organizations in Canada to help break down systemic barriers to income security and entrepreneurship experienced by diverse women experiencing intersectional barriers.

“Through these cultural enrichment workshops, we hope to further cultivate cultural awareness and celebrate diversity and inclusion among Kingston residents and visitors,” said Calang.

“Amplifying the city’s rich history and evident cultural diversity.”

Global Gallery is the pilot project of AWEC, an e-commerce collective founded through the 2021 Queen Innovation Center Summer Initiative. It is a registered online marketplace displaying products and services from various micro-entrepreneurs, including immigrant women, indigenous women , women with disabilities, vendors and international students in Kingston and the surrounding region.

Global Galleria vendors will also donate their time and host free workshops related to arts, crafts and cooking for young OneRoof Kingston customers.

Global Galleria will also host a “Christmas Bazaar and Halloween Party” this October 30 (10 am – 4 pm) on the grounds of OneRoof Kingston (outdoor venue). Global Galleria vendors will display and sell their multicultural products, and there will be a trick or treating booth for the kids. We will send you the event brochure this weekend.

All events are face-to-face and will be limited to 10-15 people per workshop to comply with the health and safety protocol. All participants must also have their proof of COVID-19 vaccination and take a COVID-19 self-assessment before coming to the venue.
