Alfa’s net income falls 30% in the third quarter

The Monterrey industrial conglomerate Alfa, reported this Wednesday to the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV), a fall in its net profit for the third quarter of 2021 of 29.33% compared to the same period last year, going from 4.716 million pesos to 3,333 million pesos.

The company obtained a growth in its income of 17.72% between July and September, going from 67,574 million pesos, to 79,551 million, compared to the third quarter of 2020.

In operating cash flow (EBITDA), the firm showed an increase of 1.19%, going from 9,565 million to 9,679 million pesos.

Among its main strategies is the reduction in its level of leverage.

In the report, the CEO of Alfa, Álvaro Fernández, announced that to accelerate the reduction of its debt, one of the initiatives is the potential sale of Axtel.

This subsidiary showed a contraction in its EBITDA of 7% year-on-year, mainly due to a drop in sales in the Government segment and delays in the implementation of projects due to limited availability due to the global shortage of semiconductors.

For its part, Sigma reported less progress as its EBITDA fell 2%, as growth in Mexico and Latin America was offset by the United States and Europe. On the contrary, the operating flow of the Foodservice channel increased 9 times compared to the same period of the previous year.

Alpek, for its part, presented an increase in its income level of 41.1%, data higher than the consensus of analysts, and an increase of 41% in its EBITDA, derived from a growth in the volume of plastics and chemicals of 15.8% equivalent to 271 thousand tons, according to a Monex report.
