Alberta woman who killed her husband has sentence cut in half | The Canadian News

The Alberta Court of Appeals has reduced the sentence of a woman who admitted shooting her husband and dumping his body in a mud pit.

Helen Naslund was sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the September 2011 death of Miles Naslund on his farm near Holden, about 100 miles southeast of Edmonton.

In a split decision, the Court of Appeal says a nine-year sentence is more appropriate.
