Alberta Prime Minister Hinshaw Will Give COVID-19 Update Tuesday Afternoon | The Canadian News

Alberta Prime Minister Jason Kenney and Chief Medical Officer for Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw are scheduled to provide a COVID-19 update Tuesday afternoon.

The couple is scheduled to speak at 3:30 pm The press conference will be broadcast live in this publication and on the Facebook pages of Global News and Corus radio.

The update comes after the holidays and is the first since last Thursday. At the time, Dr. Hinshaw noted that in an effort to give some employees a “well-deserved” break, there will be a change in the way the province reports COVID-19 data through the end of the year.

The usual in-depth data will be released online this Wednesday, including a daily breakdown of cases from December 24 to 28.

The detailed daily breakdown of case numbers will resume on January 4 and every weekday thereafter.

Tuesday’s update will include basic numbers like cases and test numbers.

In the previous update, Alberta had 1,625 COVID-19 cases as of December 23 from approximately 11,800 tests. The number put the province’s positivity rate at a record 13.6 percent. The previous record was 13.44 percent on May 2, 2021.

318 people received care for COVID-19 in the hospital, 64 of them in the intensive care unit.
